Course description

This course has been designed for teenagers that are interested in studying fashion design and garment construction. Whether you consider yourself a complete beginner or if you are studying art at school in preparation for college, this course will give you creative freedom and control to bring your designs to life under the guidance of highly skilled tutors who will walk you through the full design and construction process.

You will develop your creative confidence while working on design research, working with colour and fabric, while also developing your technical skills through tutor-led practical garment construction classes.

Students will create their own design development sketchbook to visualise the process as it unfolds, they will style and model their own design in a photoshoot at the end of term before showcasing their work at our teenage exhibition night.

This promises to be an exciting and unique experience for any 13 to 17 year old who:

    Our sewing classes cater to all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced sewers. Whether you’re just starting or looking to refine your techniques, we have a class for you.

    In our beginner classes, you will learn essential sewing techniques such as threading a sewing machine, basic stitches, reading patterns, and completing simple projects.

    Advanced classes cover complex techniques, including garment construction, advanced pattern reading, tailoring, and professional finishing techniques. You’ll work on projects like dresses, jackets, and tailored pants.

    We provide all the necessary sewing machines and basic materials for practice. For specific projects, you may need to bring or purchase your own fabrics and materials, which will be listed in the class description.

    Our workshop’s duration is 2 hours. We have a variety of courses throughout the week. Please check our current class schedule for specific details.

    No prior experience is needed for our beginner classes. These classes are designed to help you build a solid foundation in sewing from scratch.

    Yes, many of our classes allow you to work on personal projects with guidance from our instructors, especially in the intermediate and advanced levels.
